"Destroy By Design is a four-piece political metal band from Spring Hill/Columbia Tennessee. The band was formed in 2002 by Joshua Hicks, Jason Jacobs, and original member James Theesfeld (who later parted from the group in 2006). Influenced by a wide range of musical genres, Destroy By Design brings a combination of metal/southern rock guitar, hip-hop influenced vocals, jazz thrash drums and punk driven bass lines which create a unique sound never offered before. Such bands as System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, Nofx, Bionic Jive, Ill Nino, Bad Religion and others have crafted the minds of a new generation of music known as Destroy By Design.
After playing as a three-piece for a while, the band decided to recruit BJ Hudgins, a guitarist, as the bass player. They played more shows around the Nashville area and soon became known for their energetic live shows. Eventually, the band decided to put BJ on lead guitar and the search for a new bass player began.
In 2004, Jamie Danish joined the group as the new bassist and added his own experience and influences to the sound. Soon afterwards, the band started writing new material and recording for their first full album. Around the same time, they also began playing more shows and started developing a larger fan base in and around the area of Nashville, TN. Their newest material is being written with more of a metal feel and less of the hip-hop style vocals which are prevalent in their older songs. To date, Destroy By Design has played some of the best venues in Nashville (Exit/In, 12th & Porter, The End, Gibson Showcase, etc...) and as they push forward to the next step they continue to gain new fans with every show they perform."
