The story of Winnipeg rockers Tin Foil Phoenix's rise centres on a partially spoken-word song called "Neopolitan", seemingly named after the bands' inside joke about an oddly flavoured health food shake, but truly about something far more meaningful. This infectious number features the unforgettable underdog lyric, "Art is its own reward/ Just ask Burt Ward/Year of living in the shadow of The Bat". Made up of Steven Kray (percussion), Paul Robinson (bass), Michael Allen Zirk (vocals), Fish (guitar & vocals) and Phil Cholosky (guitar & vocals).
Things really started to move for Tin Foil Phoenix when their alternative styled rock was heard on the Canadian airwaves by Nickelback singer/songwriter Chad Kroeger.
"Living In The Shadow Of The Bat" - it is a rocking album that commences with a half-spoken "Neapolitan" that evolves into a rousing track.
"Bum Rush The Motorcade" is nearer to the rap-rock, "We'll Get The Venus" is a neo-rocker, more melodic with soaring guitars and riffs to elevate the pre-Chrimbo soul. "Ms Genova" slows the tempo a bit but it is mid-tempo song with a more traditional balladry captured on "The Outtside" that may be a tad bit better than their boss band, Nickelback.
