RELEASE NOTES:
Forming in March 2005, MDK brought together 5 members of varying musical
backgrounds, to share a common love of the local music scene which
inspired them all. Armed with their own brand of melodic punk with a
metal overtone theyÆre set about spreading the name, the brand and the
sound that is MDK.
With a polished three track demo in hand MDK started playing around the
Melbourne scene in September 2005. However, with rising metal
powerhouses Exit Wounds gaining a significant following, it was time to
say goodbye to the guitarist shared by both bands. After an extensive
search and the bands direction analyzed, a new guitarist was found who
both suited and yet took the band further in the direction they wished
to travel.
Back in the saddle MDK have wasted no time picking up where they left
off. Over the following months after the return they are playing shows
with interstate bands Parkway Drive, Miles Away and Bagster, and plan on
venturing into interstate realms themselves in June. All going according
to plan, this will be followed up by their debut EP towards the end of
2006.
With an open mind yet no desire to reinvent the wheel, MDK grind out the
typically engaging high energy tunes we have come to expect from the
punk and metal genres. Unashamedly inspired by local acts such as
Irrelevant and Awayfromnow, MDK also draw collective stimulus from
Killswitch Engage, Thrice, Boysetsfire and Poison The Well.
With a healthy attitude towards actually enjoying playing music, for the
sake of playing music, MDK lock and load with an arsenal of metal
breakdowns, hardcore riffs and punk melodies all evident on the three
demo tracks: Imprints, Histories Page & Worst Case Scenario. Keep an eye
on local press and come judge this band for yourself.
