Canadian band, Turn Off the Stars certainly fits into their roster rather nicely which their huge epic airy sound. Coming off sounding like a moodier rockier Coldplay, Elbow, or the Doves at their best, Turn Off the Stars are not afraid to make songs so huge that the term widescreen almost seems too small.

Turn Off the Stars is so incredibly dramatic, tuneful, and grandiose that it's unearthly. These are the songs of angels, the songs of heartbreak, the songs of affirmation, and so much more. It's scope is barely contained on the disc. Yet somehow, despite Turn Off the Stars' scale each of the songs are memorable, melodious, and lyrical.

This is an excellent album that nicely transcends its influences and hits home right between the ears. It's a pensive delight that's subtle while being gargantuan. Songs such as "I Wasn't Ready," "Please," and "Getaway," only hint at the ethereal, exquisit beauty that is Turn Off the Stars.

Like things moody and epic? Then Turn Off the Stars is certainly the band to rock your world. Here's a band that quietly and modestly has made one of the best moody rock albums of 2006. So much so, Chris Martin would be wise to spend a little less time with Gwyneth and spend more time listening to these guys to find out how to get back to his roots.

Turn Off the Stars is simply put epically brilliant.
