Discography:TV on the Radio is a new york City avant-garde indie rock band formed in 2001 whose music spans genres as diverse as freeform jazz, a cappella, psychedelia and trip-hop. The core members are Tunde Adebimpe (vocals/loops), Kyp Malone (vocals/guitars/loops) and David Andrew Sitek (music/guitars/keys/loops) but when live they are accompanied by a full band and on their records they are joined by additional musicians such as Jaleel Bunton (drums), Gerard Smith (bass) (Both of whom have become official members since 2006's Return To Cookie's Mountain), Katrina Ford of the band Celebration (vocals), Martin Perna (flute/bari/alto) and Nick Zinner (guitar) of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. David Bowie also sang backup vocals on the latest album Return to Cookie Mountain.
Their first album was the self-released TV on the Radio - OK Calculator (the title being a reference to seminal album Radiohead - OK Computer), the majority of which is wildly different from their later sound, with elements of electro, hip-hop and turntablism. Later they were joined by Kyp Malone and released TV on the Radio - Young Liars (EP) and TV on the Radio - Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes (LP) to great critical acclaim, the latter earning them a Shortlist Music Prize. They have since released a second EP, TV on the Radio - New Health Rock which contains a new track, TV on the Radio – New Health Rock; a cover of Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Modern Romance and TV on the Radio – The Wrong Way, a track formerly available on Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes.
In February 2006, TV on the Radio signed to Interscope Records (a major label) in the USA, leaving their longtime label, Touch & Go. They are signed to legendary English label 4AD in the UK and Europe.
Their highly-anticipated new album TV on the Radio - Return To Cookie Mountain was released in September.
Their song "Wolf Like Me" was met with great success.
