Inspired by influences as diverse as Yellowcard, Underoath and the Ataris, Italy’s own Hopes Die Last debuted in the summer of 2004 as a trio. Not content to be defined by categories such screamo, metalcore or postpunk, HDL’s members each contributed to creating the band’s one of a kind sonic assault.

HDL’s first recording as a band was the eight song ep Aim for Tomorrow. After a string of critically acclaimed performances in Rome and the surrounding area, the band turned its attention back to the studio, to fine tune the increasingly distinctive Hopes Die Last sound. An expansion of their line-up allowed HDL intensify its live performance, and win devoted fans all over Europe.

With the new line-up’s increased songwriting capabilities, Hopes Die Last recorded two new tracks: the blistering Thanks For Coming (I like You Dead) and fan-favorite Last Night’s Goodbye. These attracted the attention of record labels in Europe and the Americas, and ultimately led to the band signing with Standby Records. Desiring to capitalize on Hopes Die Last’s growing international appeal, Standby Records issued the ep, Your Face Down Now in North America , and teamed with licensee Still Life Records, for European distribution.

An extensive international tour followed, during which Hopes Die Last shared the stage with bands such as The Offspring, Enter Shikari, Bring Me the Horizon, To Kill, From Autumn to Ashes, A Breach on Heaven, The Handshake Affair and Caliban. The band then teamed up with bands Catherine, Destroy the Runner, Memphis May Fire and The Messenger for the "Makin’ a Mess in the US " tour, with 40 dates across America .

With the final adjustments to their line-up completed, Hopes Die Last is now writing a new full length album for release in early 2009—their first under Standby Records’ new global distribution alliance with the legendary Victory Records. An international tour will follow.
