I’ve been looking for other bands that rip off my head and explode down my spine tingling each nerve on the way out of my body cavity. I think I found just the band. Featuring members of snic and The Peanut Man, and I happened to love snic’s “The Cataract Effigy”. The band conjures the sonic landscapes of Explosions in the Sky and the manic energy and compositional talent of Godspeed! You Black Emperor. While there are certainly plenty of pop elements deeply entrenched, you won’t find yourself focusing on one particular catchy hook because the album is simply so full on superb that there’s no chance to latch on to anything but the entirety. Brilliant and swaggering with a drunken shoegazing approach to songwriting amid progressive post-rock with melodies painted on like abstract art. This is the new sound.
